The benefits
The light-filtering shade sits in a category of its own between the solar shade and the blackout shade: unlike the solar shade, you can't see through it, day or night — privacy is complete from both sides. But unlike a blackout shade, the light keeps coming in, softened and diffused, without making the room dark.

For a bedroom or living room where complete darkness isn't wanted, but where the view from outside must stay blocked at all times.

The light that comes in is diffused, never direct — comfortable for reading or working near the window.
The decorative choice
Patterned fabrics, in addition to plain ones, for a shade that contributes to the look of the room rather than simply fading into the background.

Child-safe covered chain or cordless: no exposed cord.
Protects furniture and floors
The fabric also filters UV rays, which fade furniture and floors over the years — a benefit you notice mostly over time.
A little insulation as a bonus
The shade creates a small pocket of air between itself and the window, which adds a little insulation — less than a blackout shade, but a real help against cold drafts in winter.

- Covered chain or cordless (spring-loaded)The same mechanism as our other roller shades: a child-safe covered chain, or a cordless system — never an exposed cord.
- MotorizableLike the rest of the range, a Somfy motor replaces the chain or cordless system to do everything from a remote or an app.

Light-filtering, solar, or blackout?
The solar shade lets you see partly through it, especially from outside in the evening when the lights are on; it favours the view and glare control. The light-filtering shade blocks the view while diffusing the light. The blackout shade darkens the room further. The choice depends on your priority: view, privacy or darkness.

Like the rest of our roller shades, the light-filtering shade can be motorized with a Somfy motor — battery or hardwired, remote or TaHoma app.
Warranty. The light-filtering shade is guaranteed for 5 years by Le Gars des Stores — the fabric, the mechanism and the installation. The Somfy motor, if there is one, is guaranteed for 5 years. Only accidental damage isn't covered: we replace it, but it's billed.
Our warranties are in addition to the warranties provided by law.

How is it different from a solar shade?
The solar shade lets you see through it to some extent, especially in the evening. The light-filtering shade blocks the view completely, from both sides, while keeping diffused light.
Does it make the room dark at night?
No, the light keeps coming through, softened — it isn't made for total darkness. For that, our blackout shade is the right choice.
Do you have decorative or patterned fabrics?
Yes, in addition to plain fabrics, we offer decorative or patterned light-filtering shades — a more textured look, at a slightly higher price than standard plain fabric.
Can people see in at night with the lights on?
No: unlike the solar shade, the light-filtering shade blocks the view at all times, day or night, no matter how the room is lit.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on the fabric chosen (plain or decorative), the size and the operation. Text us a photo of your windows with approximate measurements (width × height, in inches) at (514) 967-3629 to get started; the firm price comes after the measurements are verified: at the in-home consultation, or with your true measurements if you order yourself.
Where do you install them?
The West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval, and the Eastern Townships with our team on site. Elsewhere, depending on the project.
