What it changes
The benefits
A blind dresses the window; a curtain can dress the whole wall. You choose it for fullness, for the fabric, or for a ceiling-to-floor installation. Our curtains are sewn in a workshop and installed on single, double or Somfy motorized tracks. From sheers to Ripple Fold, we help you choose the right fabric and the right way to sew it.
The fabric blinds don't have
Fullness, texture, drape: a curtain dresses a room in a way a blind doesn't. It's a decorating choice as much as a window treatment.
Ceiling to floor
A track mounted high, a curtain that falls to the floor: it visually enlarges a room and gives volume to an ordinary window.
Draw wand or motor, never a chain
You pull a draw wand, like in a hotel, or control a Somfy motor. No chain, no cord: curtain tracks work differently from blinds.
Two uses, one installation
The double track gives you the sheer and the blackout together, without multiplying window treatments.
Truly custom
Track width, mounting height, fabric fullness, pleat type: everything is measured to your window and your ceiling, not cut from a standard roll.
Can be motorized
A large glass wall, a curtain you don't want to pull by hand every day, or simply comfort: Somfy motorizes everything, from the single track to the Ripple Fold.
Made in Quebec
This product is made right here in Quebec — a local choice, with lead times and follow-up that an imported product doesn't always allow.
How it works
Our curtain families
- SheersA light fabric that filters light and softens a room without closing it off. The first curtain we install, often on its own, sometimes in front of a blackout curtain.
- Blackout curtainsA heavy, lined fabric that blocks light and dampens sound a little. For bedrooms, home theatres, or simply for the fullness of a real curtain closed in the evening.
- Double track: sheer and blackoutBoth curtains, on two tracks one behind the other: the sheer by day, the blackout at night. One installation, two uses.
- Ripple Fold and S WaveEven ripples, from top to bottom, with no pinch pleats. The contemporary look you see in condos and hotels — and more and more in large waterfront homes.
- Curved tracks and special configurationsA track bent in the workshop to follow an angled bay, a curved wall, a 90-degree corner. Made to measure for your window, not adjusted after the fact.

Curtain or blind?
A curtain can be opened and closed every day, but a blind is often more practical for adjusting the light frequently. A curtain brings fullness, fabric and a dressed wall. Many clients combine the two: a blind for function, a curtain for decor.
Where it goes
Applications
Living rooms and dining rooms
The fullness and fabric that finish a room, often on a double track with a blind underneath.
Bedrooms
Blackout on its own, or a double track with a sheer in front.
Large picture windows
Ripple Fold or a curved track for a large window or an angled glass wall.
Condos and contemporary homes
Ripple Fold, for the clean look you see in modern condos and large waterfront homes.
Commercial
Reception halls, executive offices, hotels: motorized tracks, several windows on the same order.
Certified Somfy Expert
Hotel-style draw wand, or Somfy motor
A curtain track is operated differently from a blind: a draw wand you pull, like in a hotel, or a Somfy track motor that does all the work.
Warranty. The track and the installation are covered by a 5-year warranty from Le Gars des Stores. The Somfy motor, if there is one, is covered for 5 years. The fabrics and the sewing are covered against manufacturing defects; fabric care (cleaning, fading in the sun over time) isn't a defect.
Our warranties are in addition to the warranties provided by law.

- Draw wand: you pull, the curtain slides along its track — simple, no electricity
- Somfy track motor: RTS remote, or TaHoma for the app, schedules, Alexa, Google, Apple
- Can be motorized on a single, double, curved or Ripple Fold track
- Installation by our installers; certified Somfy Expert, motors covered for 5 years
Frequently asked questions
We answer
Flat pleat, French pleat, inverted French pleat: what's the difference?
Five heading styles. Flat pleat: it falls straight, the most understated. French pleat: three pinched pleats at regular intervals, the classic formal look. Inverted French pleat: the same look from the front, pleats sewn inward. Grommets: the curtain slides right on the rod. Ripple Fold: a continuous wave, for a contemporary look.
Where do I start if I know nothing about curtains?
With the room and the need: light to filter (sheer), darkness to create (blackout), both (double track), or a specific look (Ripple Fold, curved track). We bring the samples to your home and guide you.
Curtain or blind, if I have to choose just one?
A blind if you adjust the light several times a day. A curtain if you want fullness and fabric, and you open or close it once a day. Many clients have both, layered.
What is Ripple Fold?
Pleats in an even wave, without the traditional pinch pleats. It's the look you see in modern condos and hotels, and more and more in large contemporary homes.
Can it be motorized, even with Ripple Fold pleats?
Yes, Somfy motorizes Ripple Fold tracks just like classic tracks. It's actually where motorization is most appreciated: a large rippled curtain, across the full width of a glass wall, operates with a button rather than by hand.
Can I get a cord-drawn track, like traditional curtains?
This system still exists, with a centre-split draw (to the left and right) or a one-way draw, but it's now reserved for commercial projects. For the home, traverse cords are no longer offered — the draw wand or the Somfy motor do the same job, without the risk to children.
Do you make the fabric, or sew it?
We choose the fabric together from our collections, and the sewing (pleats, hems, lining) is done to measure for your window. It's not a standard curtain shortened to fit.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the track width, the fabric, the lining and the operation. We give you an idea after seeing the room; text us a photo at (514) 967-3629 to get started. The firm price comes after the measurements are verified: at the in-home consultation, or with your true measurements if you order yourself.
Where do you install?
The West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval, and the Eastern Townships with our local team. Elsewhere, depending on the project.
