The acoustic curtain is a heavy velvet, sewn in Quebec, that reduces echo, dampens some outside noise, blocks light and helps keep the heat in. We install it in home theatres, music rooms, offices, schools, churches, community halls, performance halls and theatres.
Less echo
In a large room with hard walls, velvet absorbs the sound that bounces around. Ideal for a home theatre, a music room or a meeting room.
Less noise from outside
Closed, the curtain reduces noise from the street and the neighbourhood.
Blocks light
Velvet blocks light: close the curtain and the projection or presentation stays sharp.
Keeps the heat in
The heavy fabric adds an insulating layer in front of the window, a plus in winter.

- From ceiling to floorOn a ceiling track, with even Ripple Fold pleats, the curtain covers the full height of the wall: the more it covers, the more it works.
- Straight, curved or all the way aroundStraight track, curved track, or all the way around a room or a mezzanine. A classic rod is also possible.
- By hand or with a Somfy motorPull it by hand, or control it with a Somfy motor: handy for a heavy fabric and a long track.

What a curtain can do, and what it cannot
An acoustic curtain greatly improves a room's sound and reduces outside noise, but it does not replace the wall soundproofing of a recording studio. We will tell you frankly, on site, what it will change in your room.

A heavy velvet on a long track is a lot of weight to pull: the Somfy motor does it for you, from a remote or the app.
Warranty. The track and the installation are covered for 5 years by Le Gars des Stores. The Somfy motor, if there is one, is covered for 5 years. The fabric and the sewing are covered against manufacturing defects.
Our warranties are in addition to the warranties provided by law.

How is it different from a regular blackout curtain?
A blackout curtain blocks light. An acoustic curtain is a specialized heavy velvet: it blocks light too, but it is chosen first and foremost to work on sound, with less echo in the room and less noise coming in.
Does it soundproof completely?
No. It greatly improves the acoustics and reduces outside noise, but no curtain replaces wall soundproofing. We look at your room with you and tell you what it will change.
Can it go all the way around a room?
Yes: straight track, curved track, or all the way around a room or a mezzanine, on the ceiling.
Is it heavy to pull?
Velvet is heavy. On a long track, we recommend the Somfy motor.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on the width, the height, the track and the operating system. Text us a photo of the room at (514) 967-3629 to get started; the firm price comes after the measurements are verified: at the in-home consultation, or with your true measurements if you order yourself.
