Roller shades

The foundation of any window treatment: solar for the view, light-filtering for privacy, blackout for sleep.

Why this choice

Simple, precise, built to last.

What changes everything is the fabric. Our BlankBlinds line: a very good shade, at a fair price, with no loop within children's reach.

The view stays

A solar shade filters the window without closing it. No more glare.

Darkness, when you need it

Nothing passes through a blackout fabric. With side tracks, the bedroom stays dark.

Privacy, by day

A light-filtering shade blocks the view both ways; the light comes in, softened.

Less heat

Part of the sun's radiation stops at the window. Facing south or west, you can feel it.

Fabric types

Three fabrics, three kinds of light.

Openness levels

The number that matters: the weave's openness

On a solar shade, the openness percentage determines what you see and what you block. We bring all three to your home.

1%

The most closed: maximum privacy, almost no glare, a more veiled view.

3%

The compromise we install most: good view, good comfort.

5%

The most open: a clearer view, more light.

Colours and finishes

A colour that changes everything.

A dark shade gives the clearest view and cuts glare best; a light shade brightens the room. For a blackout shade, colour is about the décor: the opacity stays the same.

Frequently asked questions

What our clients ask.

1%, 3% or 5% — which should I choose?

3% for most rooms: good view, good comfort. 1% if the window faces the street or due west and privacy and glare come first. 5% if the view is the top priority and the sun isn't direct. We bring all three to your home.

Dark or light?

Dark for the view and against glare; light for brightness and a light-coloured interior. In front of a water view, we almost always go dark: it's like sunglasses for the window.

Can people see in at night?

With a solar shade, yes, when the lights are on inside and it's dark outside. For the night, we add a blackout shade behind, or choose a zebra shade, which does both.

Will the bedroom really be dark?

Through a blackout fabric, yes, completely. On the sides, a thin line of light passes between the shade and the frame — small if the shade is mounted inside the frame, almost none if it's mounted outside. For total darkness, we add side tracks.

Why no more standard chains at home?

A free-hanging chain loop is a loop within a child's reach. The Child Guard covered chain or a motor does the same job, without the risk. In commercial settings, a standard chain is still possible.

My window is very narrow. Can it be motorized?

From 16 ⅜ in wide, with the most compact Somfy motor. Below that, we switch to the Child Guard covered chain, the spring or the counterweight.

How much does it cost?

Our most affordable line, without being low-end. The price varies with the size, the top finish and the operating system. For a quick idea, text a photo and approximate measurements (width × height, in inches) to (514) 967-3629; the firm price comes after the measurements are verified: at the in-home consultation, or with your true measurements if you order yourself.
