Vertical Sheer Shades

A fabric vane in a sheer, standing vertically: not quite a blind, not quite real drapery.

What it changes

The benefits

The vertical sheer shade combines the side-to-side movement of a vertical blind with the softness of light drapery. Its fabric vanes are built into a transparent sheer. It recalls the principle of the Hunter Douglas Luminette®, but Le Gars des Stores offers its own product, not the Luminette® brand.

Always-soft light

The sheer diffuses the light through each vane, without the hard lines of a vertical blind with opaque vanes.

The look of a curtain, the function of a blind

From a distance, the effect resembles light drapery; up close, it operates and clears like a vertical blind.

Made for large openings

Like the classic vertical blind, designed for patio doors and large sliding windows.

Child safe

The draw wand system has no cord or chain.

How it works

How it works

  1. A vane in a sheerEach vertical vane is a strip of more opaque fabric, held in a transparent sheer on both sides — like the Shangri-La, but standing up rather than lying down.
  2. Hung from a trackThe set of vanes slides on a ceiling track, exactly like a classic vertical blind — not sewn onto a curtain rail.
  3. Tilt, then slideYou turn the vanes to adjust the light — diffused, never harsh, thanks to the sheer — then push them to one side to clear the opening.
  4. A draw wand system, with no cordAs with our classic vertical blind, a rigid draw wand does both operations: tilting and sliding. No cord or chain.

A niche product

It's neither a classic vertical blind nor real workroom-made drapery — it's an in-between. Most of our customers who want the look of a curtain choose our custom curtains; those who want the function of a blind choose the classic vertical blind. This product is still offered for anyone looking for exactly this effect, but we don't install it often — we show you a sample to make sure it's really what you want before ordering.

Where it goes

Applications

Patio and French doors

The same use as a vertical blind, with a softer look.

Large windows

For anyone looking for the effect of light drapery without workroom-made fabric.

Operation and motorization

Draw wand system, or Dooya motor

A rigid draw wand tilts the vanes and slides them, with no cord or chain. The vertical sheer shade can also be motorized, with a Dooya motor.

Warranty. This shade is guaranteed for 5 years by Le Gars des Stores — the fabric, the mechanism and the installation. The Dooya motor, if there is one, is guaranteed for 3 years. Only accidental damage isn't covered: we replace it, but it's billed.

Our warranties are in addition to the warranties provided by law.

5-year Le Gars des Stores warranty
  • Draw wand system: turn to tilt, push or pull to slide
  • Optional Dooya motor, under 3-year warranty

Frequently asked questions

We answer

Is it the same as the Hunter Douglas Luminette?

The principle is the same — a fabric vane suspended in a sheer, standing vertically — but it isn't the Hunter Douglas product: it's our own product, built on a comparable principle.

Is it a blind or a curtain?

Somewhere in between: it operates and clears like a vertical blind, but its look is closer to light drapery. For a true curtain, our custom curtains are probably a better fit; for function, the classic vertical blind does the same job at a lower cost.

Can it be motorized?

Yes, with a Dooya motor under 3-year warranty. Otherwise, the draw wand does both operations: tilting and sliding.

Why do you rarely install it?

Most of our customers already know whether they want a blind or a curtain, and choose one of the two directly. This product is still offered for cases where the exact effect of a vane in a sheer is really what's wanted.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the total width and the operation. Text us a photo of your door or window with approximate measurements (width × height, in inches) at (514) 967-3629 to get started; the firm price comes after the measurements are verified: at the in-home consultation, or with your true measurements if you order yourself.

Where do you install them?

The West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval, and the Eastern Townships with our team on site. Elsewhere, depending on the project.
