What sets this motor apart.
This tubular motor with a built-in rechargeable battery delivers 1.1 newton-metres, like the Sonesse 28. It installs without wiring, inside the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.
What sets it apart is its versatility. Where Sonesse motors are aimed first at roller shades, the Roll Up 28 is designed for all interior window coverings: roller shades, solar shades, Roman shades, sheer horizontal shades, woven wood shades, dual zebra shades, pleated shades and cellular shades.
The V2 version adds a quick-lock drive, which speeds up assembly in the workshop and on site.

03 — Which blinds
The right blind for this motor.
24 in
Blind width
This motor requires a blind at least 24 in wide.
Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.
For a narrower window, the Sonesse 28 with external battery goes down to 16 3/8 in.
What to consider before choosing
- The noise level reaches 54 dB, the highest in the interior lineup. For a bedroom, the Sonesse 28 goes down to 49 dB and the Sonesse ULTRA 30 to 42 dB. The price difference with the Sonesse 28 is about $18: the difference in noise often justifies it.
- The 1.1 newton-metre torque suits medium-sized blinds. Wide shades or heavy blackout fabrics require a Sonesse ULTRA 30 or a Sonesse 40.
- This motor runs on RTS: the remote sends the command without receiving confirmation. There is no Zigbee version of this model. To see the blind's position in an app, you need to move up to the Sonesse range.
- Its 2,600 mAh battery is half the capacity of the Sonesse 40's, which means more frequent charging on a blind that is operated often.

What is the least expensive motor to motorize a blind?
The Roll Up 28 is the entry point to Somfy's battery range. It delivers 1.1 newton-metres, like the Sonesse 28, for about $18 less. The difference is the noise level: 54 dB compared with 49.
Is this motor suitable for a Roman or cellular shade?
Yes. It is the most versatile in the lineup: roller shades, solar shades, Roman shades, sheer horizontal shades, woven wood shades, dual zebra shades, pleated shades and cellular shades. Sonesse motors are aimed first at roller shades.
Is it noisy?
It runs at 54 dB, the highest level in the interior lineup. In a living room or kitchen, the difference goes unnoticed. In a bedroom, the Sonesse 28 at 49 dB or the Sonesse ULTRA 30 at 42 dB are better choices.
Is there a connected version of this motor?
No. The Roll Up 28 only comes in RTS. To control your blinds from an app and see their position, you need to move up to a Sonesse motor in its Zigbee version.
