This motor pairs ordinary 120 volt power with Zigbee 3.0 communication. The blind confirms its position in the TaHoma app, and the permanent power supply eliminates charging.
It delivers 4 newton-metres at 36 rpm, which covers the vast majority of interior blinds at twice the speed of battery motors.
It is the shortest connected motor in the 40 series: 20.24 in, for a minimum width of 22 3/4 in. Only the Sonesse 40 WT, which has no radio, is shorter.

03 — Which blinds
The right blind for this motor.
22 3/4 in
Blind width
This motor requires a blind at least 22 3/4 in wide.
Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.
This is the smallest width in the entire 40 series. The battery-powered Sonesse 40, with comparable power, requires 28 1/8 in.
What to consider before choosing
- Range reaches 200 m in open field, four times that of the Sonesse 40 RTS 120 V, which is limited to 50 m. Zigbee is not always the short-range protocol people assume: here, it far exceeds RTS.
- A power outlet must be accessible near the blind, or a circuit must be planned.
- A TaHoma is required for the app, schedules and voice control. No RTS remote is compatible: control goes through a Ysia device, a DecoFlex Zigbee or a TaHoma.
- For a very large or very heavy blind, the 409R2 version goes up to 9 newton-metres, at the cost of a slower speed of 14 rpm.

What customers ask.
Which connected motor should I choose for a narrow window?
The 120 V Sonesse 40 Zigbee 404S2 goes down to 22 3/4 in wide, the smallest in the 40 series. Its battery-powered equivalent needs 28 1/8 in, because the battery takes up room in the tube.
Does Zigbee have a shorter range than RTS?
Not here. This motor reaches 200 m in open field, compared with 50 m for the 120 V Sonesse 40 RTS. The idea that Zigbee has a shorter range applies to battery motors, whose antenna is more limited.
Do I need a TaHoma?
Yes for the app, schedules and voice control. Without a TaHoma, a Ysia remote provides local control, but without remote monitoring.
How is it different from the 409R2 version?
The 404S2 offers 4 newton-metres at 36 rpm: fast and versatile. The 409R2 goes up to 9 newton-metres but drops to 14 rpm. The first suits most blinds, the second very large or very heavy shades.
Does it draw power at rest?
0.05 W on standby, ten times less than the RTS version. Its life-cycle carbon footprint is 42.4 kg.
