01 — At a glance

What sets this motor apart.

This motor is the Zigbee equivalent of the Sonesse 30 RTS 24V: same power, same noise level, same low-voltage connection, plus the two-way communication of Zigbee 3.0.

The blind confirms its position in the TaHoma app, can be programmed from a phone and can be adjusted remotely. On a project with several blinds in a connected home, this model offers the most complete control, without ever needing to be charged.

  • Built-in network repeater

Powered at all times, it relays the Zigbee signal of other devices instead of depending on it.

  • 150 m range

Nearly double that of battery-powered Zigbee motors, which are limited to 80 m.

  • 2 newton-metres of torque

For wide shades, like the RTS version.

  • No charging

    Wired power, maintenance-free.

  • Interchangeable head

White included, grey and black available, to match the fabric.

  • 1 1/2 in or 2 in tube

Compatible with both common sizes, despite its 2 newton-metres.

03 — Which blinds

The right blind for this motor.

21 1/2 in

Blind width

This motor requires a blind at least 21 1/2 in wide.

Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.

This motor delivers 2 newton-metres from 21 1/2 in, where the battery-powered Sonesse ULTRA 30 needs 28 1/8. For a narrow window with a heavy shade, however, a wired connection becomes necessary.

What to consider before choosing

  • This is the highest-end model in the interior selection, at $550. The gap with the RTS version is $80, the largest in the catalogue between an RTS version and its Zigbee equivalent.
  • Because it is powered at all times, it acts as a router in the Zigbee network. In a home fitted with battery motors, installing a few wired models improves the range of the whole system. This is a measurable technical advantage.
  • Like all Zigbee models, it does not accept any RTS remote. Control goes through a Ysia device, a DecoFlex Zigbee or a TaHoma.
  • The wiring must be planned before the drywall goes up. Beyond two blinds, a power distribution panel is needed: from $1,324 to $3,260 depending on the number of motors.

05 — Frequently asked questions

What customers ask.

What is the difference between RTS and Zigbee?

RTS sends the command without receiving a response. Zigbee communicates both ways: the blind confirms its position and status, which makes the app, schedules and remote diagnostics possible.

Do I need a TaHoma to use this motor?

A TaHoma is required for the app, schedules and voice control. Without a TaHoma, a Ysia remote provides local control, but without remote monitoring.

Does this motor improve the network's range?

Yes. Because it is powered at all times, it acts as a router in the Zigbee network and relays the signal of other devices. In a home fitted with battery motors, a few wired models improve the coverage of the whole system.

What wire gauge should I plan for?

A two-conductor cable: 240 ft in 14 AWG, 150 ft in 16 AWG, 100 ft in 18 AWG. 20 AWG doorbell wire is below the recommended threshold.

Can I use an RTS remote with this motor?

No. Zigbee motors do not accept any RTS remote: not Situo, Telis or Smoove. Control goes through a Ysia device, a DecoFlex Zigbee or a TaHoma.

Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?

Yes. Le Gars des Stores serves the West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval and the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Magog); elsewhere, depending on the project. We handle measuring, made-to-measure ordering, installation and programming.
