01 — At a glance

What sets this motor apart.

Mechanically, this motor is identical to the Sonesse ULTRA 30 RTS: 2 newton-metres of torque, 42 dB, the same built-in rechargeable battery, the same length. The difference is the radio.

Zigbee 3.0 communicates both ways. The blind confirms it received the command, reports the height reached and signals the remaining charge level. This information appears in the TaHoma app and makes schedules, scenes and remote diagnostics possible.

  • Position and charge confirmation

The app shows the blind's height and remaining battery life. RTS transmits none of this data.

  • 2 newton-metres of torque

For wide shades and heavy fabrics, like the RTS version.

  • 42 dB noise level

As quiet as its RTS equivalent.

  • One charge per year

Based on Somfy's reference blind: 1.2 m wide, 2 m high, one cycle per day.

  • App-based programming

Commissioning is done in TaHoma pro, without a service remote.

  • Remote diagnostics

The Serv-e-Go tool allows service without a site visit.

03 — Which blinds

The right blind for this motor.

28 1/8 in

Blind width

This motor requires a blind at least 28 1/8 in wide.

Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.

For a narrower window that still needs 2 newton-metres, the Sonesse 30 Zigbee 24V goes down to 21 1/2 in, with a wired connection.

What to consider before choosing

  • Open-field range reaches 80 m, compared with 200 m for RTS. Zigbee makes up for it with a mesh network between devices, which requires enough devices in a large home.
  • A TaHoma is required for the app, schedules and voice control. Without a TaHoma, a Ysia remote provides local control, but with no app and no remote monitoring.
  • No RTS remote is compatible with this motor: not Situo, Telis or Smoove. Control goes through a Ysia or DecoFlex Zigbee device.
  • The difference from the RTS version is $20. If use is limited to opening and closing with a remote, the RTS model meets the need.

05 — Frequently asked questions

What customers ask.

What does position confirmation actually do?

It lets you check remotely that a blind has come down, see its actual height in the app, and get an alert before the battery runs out. An RTS motor transmits none of this information.

Is Zigbee's range sufficient?

It reaches 80 m in open field, compared with 200 m for RTS. Zigbee makes up for it with a mesh network between devices: the more devices, the better the coverage. In a large home, adding wired 24 V motors, which act as routers, strengthens the network.

How long does the battery last?

About one charge per year, based on Somfy's reference blind: 1.2 m wide by 2 m high, operated once a day.

Is this motor suitable for a large shade?

Yes. Its 2 newton-metres suit wide shades and heavy blackout fabrics. For an even larger shade, the Sonesse 40 delivers 3 newton-metres.

Is it worth $20 more than the RTS version?

It depends on how it will be used. If the customer only opens and closes the blinds with a remote, the RTS model meets the need. Zigbee is worth it as soon as an app, schedules or home automation integration come into play.

Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?

Yes. Le Gars des Stores serves the West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval and the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Magog); elsewhere, depending on the project. We handle measuring, made-to-measure ordering, installation and programming.
