01 — At a glance

What sets this motor apart.

This motor delivers 9 newton-metres, more than double the battery-powered Sonesse 40 and four times the torque of a Sonesse ULTRA 30. It handles the largest and heaviest shades an interior blind can carry.

This power comes with the lowest noise level in the lineup, at 40 decibels. Somfy places it in its Designed for Silence series, and it has earned two industry awards.

Running on 120 volts, it also acts as a router in the Zigbee network: since it is always plugged in, it relays the signal of other devices instead of depending on it.

  • 9 newton-metres

The highest torque in the interior lineup, for very large shades.

  • 40 dB

The lowest noise level in the lineup, despite its power.

  • Zigbee network router

Powered at all times, it extends the radio range of all your devices.

  • 0.05 W on standby

Ten times less than the RTS version. Carbon footprint of 5.21 kg compared with 56.4 kg.

  • Interchangeable head

White included, black and grey available, to match the fabric.

  • UL listed

Meets building code requirements, in residential and commercial settings alike.

03 — Which blinds

The right blind for this motor.

24 in

Blind width

This motor requires a blind at least 24 in wide.

Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.

It has the best power-to-size ratio in the catalogue: 9 newton-metres from 24 in, where the battery-powered Sonesse 40 offers only 4 and requires 28 1/8 in.

What to consider before choosing

  • Speed is 14 rpm, compared with 36 for the Sonesse 40 RTS 120 V. Power comes at the cost of speed: a large blind comes down more slowly, but without straining.
  • A power outlet must be accessible near the blind, or a circuit must be planned. This is the constraint of any 120 V motor.
  • A TaHoma is required for the app, schedules and voice control. No RTS remote is compatible: control goes through a Ysia device, a DecoFlex Zigbee or a TaHoma.
  • A 404S2 version exists in the same series, at 4 newton-metres and a higher speed, offered at a lower price. It suits a blind of standard size.

05 — Frequently asked questions

What customers ask.

What is the most powerful blind motor?

The Sonesse 40 Zigbee 409R2, with 9 newton-metres. That is more than double the battery-powered Sonesse 40 and four times the torque of a Sonesse ULTRA 30. It handles the largest interior shades.

Is such a powerful motor noisy?

No. At 40 dB, it shares the lowest noise level in the lineup. Somfy places it in its Designed for Silence series.

Why is it slower than the RTS model?

It turns at 14 rpm, compared with 36 for the Sonesse 40 RTS 120 V. Power comes at the cost of speed: a large blind comes down more slowly, but without the mechanism straining.

Does it draw much power at rest?

0.05 W on standby, ten times less than the RTS version. Its life-cycle carbon footprint is 5.21 kg compared with 56.4 kg.

Does it improve the network's range?

Yes. Because it is powered at all times, it acts as a router in the Zigbee network and relays the signal of other devices, which strengthens coverage throughout the home.

Is there a less powerful version?

Yes, the 404S2 version offers 4 newton-metres at a higher speed, at a lower price. It suits a blind of standard size.

Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?

Yes. Le Gars des Stores serves the West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval and the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Magog); elsewhere, depending on the project. We handle measuring, made-to-measure ordering, installation and programming.
