What sets this motor apart.
This tubular motor with a rechargeable battery fits inside the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto. No visible wires, no electrical work, no walls to open.
The battery charges with a magnetic cable, about twice a year depending on use, or with a solar panel installed in the window when the blind is hard to reach.
This model is especially suited to renovation projects, condos and high windows, where running a wire would cost more than the blind itself.

03 — Which blinds
The right blind for this motor.
24 1/8 in
Blind width
This motor requires a blind at least 24 1/8 in wide.
Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto.
For a narrower window, the Sonesse 28 with external battery goes down to 16 3/8 in.
What to consider before choosing
- The 1.1 newton-metre torque covers most interior blinds, but is not suited to wide or heavy shades. Those require a Sonesse ULTRA 30, which delivers 2 newton-metres.
- This motor runs on RTS, Somfy's traditional radio: reliable and proven, but one-way. The remote sends the command without receiving confirmation. To check the blind's position and battery level remotely, the Zigbee version is the way to go.
- No remote is included. However, a single remote is enough for a whole project: one channel controls a group of blinds.

What customers ask.
Does a motorized blind need an electrical wire in the wall?
No. The Sonesse 28 WireFree runs on a rechargeable battery built into the blind's tube. No wires, no walls to open, no electrical work. That is why this motor is the most used in renovations and condos.
How often does the battery need charging?
About twice a year depending on use. A light on the motor head signals low charge before the blind stops working. A solar panel installed in the window eliminates manual charging entirely.
Does the motor make noise at night?
The noise level is 49 dB, comparable to a quiet conversation. This motor is part of Somfy's Designed for Silence range. For a bedroom where quiet comes first, the Sonesse ULTRA 30 goes down to 42 dB, a clearly noticeable difference.
What blind width can this motor handle?
The blind must be at least 24 1/8 in wide. At the upper end, the 1.1 newton-metre torque suits most interior blinds, but not wide shades or heavy blackout fabrics, which require a Sonesse ULTRA 30 or a Sonesse 40.
Do I need one remote per blind?
No. A single remote controls a whole group of blinds on one channel. A Situo 5 manages five groups, a Telis 16 manages sixteen. The remote is not included with the motor.
Can the blinds be controlled with a phone or by voice?
Yes, by adding a TaHoma. This motor runs on RTS: it carries out commands without sending any information back. To see the blind's position and battery level from an app, the Zigbee version is needed.
Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?
