What sets this motor apart.
This motor takes the principle of the Sonesse 28 — built-in rechargeable battery, no wiring — and raises the torque from 1.1 to 2 newton-metres. This reserve of power makes it possible to operate a wide shade, a thick fabric or a very tall blind without straining the mechanism.
It is also quieter than the Sonesse 28: 42 dB compared with 49, a clearly noticeable difference in a bedroom.

The right blind for this motor.
28 1/4 in
Blind width
This motor requires a blind at least 28 1/4 in wide.
Below this width, the motor does not fit in the aluminum tube the fabric rolls onto. It is the bulkiest model in the interior lineup.
For a narrower window that still needs 2 newton-metres, the Sonesse 30 RTS 24V goes down to 20 1/4 in, with a wired connection.
What to consider before choosing
- Its 25.69 in length requires a minimum width of 28 1/4 in, compared with 24 1/8 in for the Sonesse 28 with built-in battery.
- This motor runs on RTS: the remote sends the command without receiving confirmation. To check the blind's position and battery level remotely, the Zigbee version is the way to go.
- This motor installs in a 1 1/2 in tube as well as a 2 in tube.

Which motor should I choose for a large shade?
The Sonesse ULTRA 30 delivers 2 newton-metres, compared with 1.1 for the Sonesse 28. This reserve of power can operate a wide shade, a thick blackout fabric or a very tall blind. Beyond that, the Sonesse 40 goes up to 3 newton-metres.
What is the quietest blind motor?
In RTS, the Sonesse ULTRA 30, at 42 dB: seven decibels less than the Sonesse 28 and the Sonesse 40, a clearly noticeable difference. It is the recommended choice for a bedroom. In Zigbee, the Sonesse 40 motors go down to 40 dB.
Is a more powerful motor noisier?
Not in this lineup. The ULTRA 30 is both more powerful and quieter than the Sonesse 28. The noise level depends on the motor's design, not its torque.
What is the minimum blind width?
