04 — What to consider
Before you buy, good to know…
- For external battery motors only. Motors with a built-in lithium-ion battery don't need it.
- The Sonesse 28 WireFree RTS external battery motor does not work without it: include it in the budget.
- Indoor use only (IP 20), between 0 and 60 °C.
- Somfy does not publish a charge life figure for this battery: it depends on use and the shade.
05 — Frequently asked questions
What customers ask.
Which motors use this battery?
Somfy WireFree external battery motors. In our lineup: the Sonesse 28 WireFree RTS external battery motor, which does not work without it.
How long does a charge last?
Somfy does not publish a charge life figure for the external battery; it depends on the number of cycles and on the shade. A solar panel takes care of it.

Yes, up to 5 m, with Somfy's 10, 48 or 96 in extensions. It can be hidden behind the bottom bar, in the headrail or on the ceiling.
Can it be charged by the sun?
Yes, with the WireFree solar panel kit, which appears in Somfy's documentation for this battery.
Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?
Yes. Le Gars des Stores serves the West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval and the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Magog); elsewhere, depending on the project. We handle measuring, made-to-measure ordering, installation and programming.
