01 — At a glance

What it does, simply.

On a project with several 24 V wired shades, each motor connects to a shared distribution panel rather than to its own power supply. Somfy offers four sizes: 5, 10, 15 and 20 motors.

The panel takes 120 V and gives each motor a Class 2 24 V DC output, up to 2 A. It suits Somfy 24 V tubular motors with built-in RTS radio or dry contact (DCT), and Somfy publishes a wiring diagram for the Sonesse 30 RS485.

  • 5 to 20 motors

Four sizes, depending on the number of shades in the project.

  • Class 2 outputs

24 V DC, 2 A at most per output: low voltage all the way to the motors.

  • NEMA Type 1 enclosure

    cULus listed, for indoor use.

  • 24 knock-outs

From 1/2 to 1 1/4 in, to bring the cables in.

  • 24 V supply pre-installed

The 24 V supply is already connected to the panel, according to Somfy.

  • Somfy diagrams

For the Sonesse 30 RTS, DCT and RS485, and the Irismo.

04 — What to consider

Before you buy, good to know…

  • 120 V connection by a licensed electrician, under local and national codes: this is a Somfy requirement.
  • Cable to the motors: 150 ft at most in 16 AWG, 100 ft in 18 AWG, to guarantee performance.
  • A wall power supply is enough for one or two shades; beyond that, the panel becomes necessary.
  • 15- and 20-motor sizes: two 120 V feeds (2.8 A and 5.3 A, or twice 5.3 A). The 5- and 10-motor sizes need only one, with a single overcurrent protection.
  • Sonesse 30 Zigbee 24V DC: Somfy does not publish a diagram with this panel; we confirm the connection when designing the project.

05 — Frequently asked questions

What customers ask.

Which size should I choose?

The one that covers the number of motors in the project: 5, 10, 15 or 20. A slightly larger size leaves room to add shades later.

Does it take an electrician?

Yes for the 120 V feed: Somfy requires it. On the motor side, the 24 V outputs are Class 2, low voltage.

What cable runs between the panel and the motors?

According to Somfy, 150 ft at most in 16 AWG and 100 ft at most in 18 AWG, to guarantee motor performance.

From how many shades is a panel needed?

A 24 V wall power supply is enough for one or two shades. Beyond that, the distribution panel becomes necessary.

Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?
