01 — At a glance
What it does, simply.
The DecoFlex WireFree RTS is a battery-powered wireless wall switch. It operates one shade or one group of shades with its up, stop and down buttons, like a remote mounted on the wall.
It installs without an electrical box: the bracket provided fastens directly into the drywall. Somfy designed it to sit next to a Decora-style light switch, under a double plate.
No wires
Battery powered: nothing to run through the wall.
Next to the lights
Right where you reach for the switch when entering the room.
No electrical box
The mounting bracket provided fastens into drywall.
Engraved buttons
The buttons can be replaced with engraved buttons ordered from Somfy.
White or black
Two colours, two prices: black costs less.
Long battery life
Somfy says it is designed for years of maintenance-free use. The lights go out when the battery is flat.

04 — What to consider
Before you buy, good to know…
- A single channel. To operate several shades separately, the DecoFlex WireFree RTS 5-channel.
- RTS only. For a Zigbee motor, the DecoFlex WireFree Zigbee.
- Drywall cut-out: 1 5/8 x 3 7/16 in, according to Somfy's instructions. Somfy recommends turning off power to the neighbouring box when working next to an existing switch.
- Somfy does not list the dimensions of this version in its catalogue; the official dimensional drawing is in the documentation below.
05 — Frequently asked questions
What customers ask.
Does it take an electrician to install?
No. It has no wires: it runs on a battery and fastens to drywall with the bracket provided, with no electrical box. Somfy only recommends turning off power to the neighbouring box when installing it next to an existing switch.
Can the buttons be engraved?
Yes. Somfy makes engraved buttons to order. Its official engraving order form is in the documentation below.
How do I know the battery is flat?
The lights no longer come on when a button is pressed, and the radio signal weakens. The 3 V lithium battery (type 2450) is replaced by removing the plate, according to Somfy's instructions.
Can it replace the remote?
Yes, or work alongside it. An RTS motor stores several controls: many people keep the remote in the living room and the DecoFlex at the room entrance.
Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?
Yes. Le Gars des Stores serves the West Island and Montreal, Vaudreuil-Dorion, the South Shore, the North Shore, western Laval and the Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Magog); elsewhere, depending on the project. We handle measuring, made-to-measure ordering, installation and programming.
