01 — At a glance
What it does, simply.
The TaHoma switch is Somfy's smart home hub. It controls up to 60 Somfy Zigbee products and 40 channels of RTS products, and brings them together in the TaHoma by Somfy app.
The app creates schedules and scenes, operates the shades remotely and connects them to Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home. According to Somfy, Apple Home works only with certain Zigbee motors.
For home automation systems, Somfy publishes integration guides (Control4, Crestron, Savant, ELAN, RTI, Josh.ai, Sonos, Philips Hue, SmartThings, Alarm.com, Clare Controls, URC and Brilliant) and an API, Somfy Synergy.

04 — What to consider
Before you buy, good to know…
- It connects to the home's Wi-Fi, or to the router by cable with the Ethernet adaptor of version 1871038 ($40 more).
- Indoor use only, between 0 and 35 °C, according to Somfy's spec sheet.
- RTS motors do not report their position: the app sends the command without knowing the shade's actual position. Zigbee motors communicate both ways.
- Apple Home is supported only with certain Zigbee motors: we check it against the motors in your project.

What customers ask.
Is the TaHoma switch required?
Not for RTS motors: a remote is enough day to day. It becomes necessary for the app, schedules, voice control and remote access. For Zigbee motors, Somfy also publishes a standalone setup with Ysia remotes, without an app.
How many shades can it control?
Up to 60 Zigbee products and 40 RTS channels. According to Somfy, up to 10 TaHoma hubs can be joined for multi-zone RTS control.
Do I need the Ethernet adaptor?
No: the TaHoma switch connects over Wi-Fi. The adaptor adds an Ethernet port for a wired connection to the router, steadier if Wi-Fi is weak at that spot. It comes with version 1871038 ($359).
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
Somfy announces voice control with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home; Apple Home only with certain Zigbee motors. We confirm it based on the motors in your project.
Do you install in Montreal, Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships?
